There are many amazing educational conferences on hiring people with disabilities that have little to no information about the unique aspects of hiring veterans with disabilities.
And there are amazing educational conferences (like the Veteran Recruiting Conference) that focus on all aspects of developing veteran talent programs but have limited time to dive deep into content specific to hiring veterans with disabilities.
The Mission: EmployABLE Veterans Conference was created by The Value Of a Veteran (VOAV) in 2024 to bring together industry leaders and experts to share best practices and actionable strategies specifically tailored to hiring veterans with disabilities.
VOAV has spent more than 17 years working with large organizations helping to build out world class veteran talent programs. It created the first comprehensive professional development event for veteran talent managers in 2013, and clearly saw the need to do a specific event focused on veterans with disabilities.
We are pleased this event is finally coming to fruition and are honored to host it in Herndon, Virginia on October 21, 2025.
Why Focus on Veterans with Disabilities?
Companies should have a strategy for hiring people with disabilities because it strengthens both their workforce and their business. Employees with disabilities, including veterans, bring unique perspectives, problem-solving skills, and adaptability, making them valuable assets in driving innovation and productivity. Studies show that diverse and inclusive workplaces are more effective, with better employee engagement and retention. Additionally, companies that focus on inclusive hiring benefit from improved public perception, enhancing their reputation as socially responsible organizations.
From a business perspective, there are also significant financial advantages. Many government programs provide tax credits, grants, and other incentives to companies that hire individuals with disabilities. By developing a comprehensive strategy, companies can access these benefits while fostering a culture of inclusivity and tapping into a largely underutilized talent pool. This not only helps veterans with disabilities transition into meaningful employment but also positions the company as a leader in diversity and inclusion.
